The marvels, past and present, of the Earth and the seas

  • A Museum for a large public of all ages
  • 110 glass cases distributed all over 4 exposition rooms
  • Guided visits in 4 languages

The Fossils (mainly marine, 98% of which have been collected in France), represent abundantly all the geological stages covering a period from - 550 million years (beginning of the primary era) till - 2 million years (dawn of humanity).

With the exception of the universitary collections (at the disposition of the professors and the students only) or the collections that are purely regional, there are only very few general geological collections in France that are accessible to the larger public.
The Museum is supported by the University, the Academy and the Departemental Board of Tourism.

Please refer to the opening hours and the entrance fees of the Geological Museum of Vernet-les-Bains.
